Match Report
The Southport School 8B vs  Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie)
On: Saturday, 01 May 2021
Venue: Away

The 8 B’s travelled to Churchie for round 2. We found ourselves down 1-0 after 3 minutes to a sharp chance by a Churchie striker. We then got into the game and worked well to create a number of scoring chances that just didn’t cross the line. Churchie then struck their 2nd goal in the 20th minute and we worked hard for the remaining 10 till half time. Once again creating some good movement up the field but just needed to finish things off better. The second half we allowed Churchie to score 3 more goals. Our defence as a team, has to make it a lot harder for them to score with continual pressure on the player with the ball. We scored our only goal in the 14th minute to Sam Barker who had a very good game. William Poole was awarded our best defender today and tried hard all game. We have to be hungrier to chase our shots into the goal mouth and allow ourselves to leave that area with points. We did some fantastic things in the game but need to be more consistent which will help us defend and attack better. Overall, the boys were disappointed with the result (1-5) but most importantly are still enjoying playing for TSS despite the result. We look forward to our next game.
