Match Report
The Southport School 11B vs  Ipswich Grammar School
On: Saturday, 15 Jun 2019
Venue: Away

Looking to round off their season in style the 11Bs took their 16-strong side to the sunshine of Ipswich Grammar, hungry for win. With Mitch and Rohan absent it was left to Mr. Hellier to guide them through.

The game started quickly and after a free-kick, followed by a corner we found ourselves on the back foot, 2-0 down after only 10 minutes. Doom and gloom was not on our cards today and the boys picked themselves up and attacked relentlessly. Reilly Baker caused huge amounts of trouble for their right back and snuck round the back, following up from a goalkeeper spill to get one back. Will Radburn buried low and hard to complete the first half comeback of 2-2.

Under instructions of "shoot on site" we found ourselves 4-2 up, 10 minutes into the 2nd half. Barry hit an unstoppable free-kick into the top corner before Lucas Piper scored a goal of the season contender, blasting into the top corner from 35 yards out. We continued to hammer the pressure throughout the game.

Worry crept in with 5 to go, conceding from a corner to make it 4-3. Sam Heathwood made some outstanding games in goal to keep our lead and the boys responded well and ground out a stunning 4-3 win in their last game. An excellent performance by all today.
